Just lovely Sleeping Cat Netsuke miniature figurine.
The Franklin Mint issued a series of cat figurines for the Curio Cabinet Cats Collection in the 1980s.
Each cat was produced from a different material, in different countries,and reflected various art forms popular through the ages.This sleeping cat is made to represent the Netsuke, an art form developed in Japanduring the Edo period (1615-1868).
The process originally involved layering wood with coats of lacquer, letting each dry before adding another,then carving intricate designs in to the piece.The cat measures approx. 2.25\" wide. And approx. 1 1/4\" tall.Made of resin it is in excellent condition, no chips, cracks or marks. Original paperwork is included. Please contact with any questions, and check out my other sales!
