Vintage Tapa / Bark Cloth Artwork Easter Island Polynesia Hand Painted Unique:
Up for consideration is a beautiful, hand painted tapa cloth or "bark cloth" from Easter Island in the South Pacific.
Easter Island is a Polynesian Island located at the end of the South Pacific island chain that was annexed by Chile years ago.
This decorative cloth is a fiber material made from the paper mulberry tree. The size of this piece is 23 1/2 " long by 24 1/4 " wide. The painting on the cloth is a traditional geometric pyramid, chain and floral design made of black and brown orburgundyhues on a cream background. There is a seam on the back of the piece where two sections are joined together, however this is not noticeable on the front side of the artwork.
This piece is in beautiful condition and is approximately 25 years old. It is being sold from the private collection of a professor of art from a university in the midwest. It is ready for framing and display in your home.
