I am pleased to offer this beautiful and elegant 1950s sterling silver and "Mexican Alexandrite" cuff bracelet, artist signed and a true beauty! The bracelet is hinged on two sides to open up for wearing and closes on one side with a slide in clasp. The applied sterling silver design on the front is quite Modernist and very reminiscent of the work of Salvador Teran. A stunning, sparkling piece when worn!Stones called "Mexican Alexandrites" are sometimes lab created or natural, but most often they are what is known as "color change Corundum" which is lab created; rubies and sapphires are also of the Corundum family of gems and this gem tests in the ruby/sapphire range. Color change Corundum is as hard as a diamond and as you hold this item in different lights, you can see many different colors, but the primary color is purple like an amethyst and in most lighting these stones are a light to medium purple with pink and blue highlights.
Hallmark: RB Taxco Gro 925 Mexico Eagle(3)
Size: Inner Circumference: 6 3/4"; Width at Front: 1 3/8"; Grams: 69
Condition: Excellent vintage, a little tarnish/discoloration here and there - the stone is prong set and made to follow the angle of the bracelet (the top of the bracelets angles back a few degrees and the bottom half also angles back a few degrees, so it can look like the stone is set to angle down, that was the way it was made
