A very beautiful Aventurine Bird of Paradise by Alfredo Barbini in shades of purple with a hint of blue. This beautiful bird sits atop a golden branch of Aventurine glass. It stands approximately 11.5 inches tall – 3.25 inches at its widest point – 5 inches in depth - weighing approximately 3 pounds. This is truly a stunning Murano piece. I do however need to point out a large chip just under the ‘feet’ of the bird (the gold branch). I can only guess, but it appears when the chip happened it left a hairline crack through the gold branch behind it. It hasn’t affected the soundness of the glass piece, as it is sturdy, and there is no other damage to report. For the sake of full disclosure there is a piece of glass which was left rough (during production) just under the right eye. Documentation shows this Venetian piece was made by Alfredo Barbini for Weil Ceramics and Glass, Murano, Italy.
