Vintage Wind-up Celluloid Toy Baseball Player Occupied Japan For Sale
This is an old wind-up celluloid baseball player that works. The arms are jointed at the shoulders and arms move, but the elastic that connects the arms is a bit loose (not bad but mentionable) from age. When you wind him up (I only wound him about 1/2 turn so as not to break the mechanism) and set him down, he goes forward then stops, turns and goes another way, all the while looking up as if to catch the ball! Sometimes you must give him a little tap to get him going again!! Also, the key for winding is included. It is old. The toy was protected inside the box (may be a bit dusty), but the original box (shown in the picture)is very old, dingy, and falling apart. The toy is marked "Made in Occupied Japan" which is stamped right into the celluloid on the back and it is also printed on the bottom of the box. The toy measures almost 5 1/2" tall.
