This 1996 version, the second in a long series, is a wonderful, rustic, hand made, wooden box. It is showing signs of its age, but is still in great shape. The artwork is clean and crisp, the hinges and latch work well, with no rust, and the label inside the lid is in like new condition.
The artwork on the box, done by Manuel Velazquez, was painted in a mixed technique over raw cotton paper, then printed on serigraphy.
Manuel Velazquez was the artist chosen for the second, 1996 release. He was born in Tuxtla Gutierrez in 1968. At age 12, he became a student of the Plastic Arts School in Chiapas and is currently a teacher at Veracruz University. His work has been exhibited, both individually and grouped, in Mexico as well as the United States and has received numerous awards and recognitions.
The box is approximately 11 3/4" long, 4 1/2" high, and 4 3/4" deep. It is a sturdy box weighing a bit over 1 pound and 7 ounces. It does show signs of wear which gives the box some character, but it's still in good condition. We try to take photo's that show the condition well but please email with you have any questions.
