Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome.
You are looking at a somewhat rare RCA MI-6228 model Aerodynamic microphone first produced in the 1930\'s and manufactured into the late 1940\'s. The MI-6228 has a classic bullet mic look. It was at that time a somewhat affordable RCA dynamic microphone used for general purpose broadcasting and this particular model has that classic bullet mic styling that was so popular at the time.
That being said this mic is in non-working condition and should be used only for display, prop or repair purposes only. The original element is still inside and wired but there is no signal.
You\'ll notice right away that this microphone has the chrome plated finish which has a nice luster but has quite a bit of wear in the form of scratches and scuffs. The original cloth screen is still present but shows a few small holes and rips...not bad overall. You\'ll notice in pic # 5 that there is a tiny fracture in the top center ribs. I didn\'t even know it was there until I took these close up pictures because it\'s just that hard to see in normal scale. The chrome handle has a bit of wear hear and there. The paint on the base is in very nice condition showing very little wear and it should be noted that the brass handle and cast iron base is HEAVY. These old mics and stands were built like tanks. The bottome of the base is free of any corrosion and the handle comes out of the base with the twist of a screw.
The MI-6228 has a short 8 inch cable with a chrome plated 1/4 inch connector for display reasons
This mic is an easy 6 + on a scale of 1 - 10 in the cosmetic department. It will make for a very interesting display piece anywhere in the home, office or studio.
