Voigtlander Apo Collinear 40" 1000mm F12.5 Brass Lens For 20x24 Ulf For Sale
Hi there. This is another lens from my collection: A Voigtlander Apochromat Collinear 40" (1000mm!) f12.5 It's in fair condition. The barrel shows signs of wear. There is a small dent on the flange but it's no big deal. You still mount it onto the lens board normally. It has slot for waterhouse stop. The glass is very thick, hence very heavy (this lens weighs about 6kg - 13 lbs). There are some dust and blemishes and minor scratches and balsam, but no fungus or haze. This is what Vade Mecum said:
"The Voigtlaender Anastigmats were initially the Kollinear- or spelling as Collinear for export markets.
Kollinear was made in several series, and there may be changes in the designs. Users say that the
performance is very good but that the colour correction can be less good than other types, and the faster
series may lack ultimate sharpness. Frerk writing in 1926, says the old versions were in f5.4 and f6.8, and that
the line was simplified in 1921 when R. Richter redesigned the Kollinear as an f6.3 in all sizes. Today, demand
for Kollinear seems to be increasing and prices are rising, perhaps as it is more flexible in use than Dagor, the
main 3+3 symmetrical competitor. ...
ApoKollinear f9.0 Layout V 015 for 30-40°. This version was introduced in 1900 and may be still another
version to the ones above which are likely to be non-apo versions. The two may have sold in parallel for some
time. The apo was certainly an impressive lens with very thick glasses. The maximum aperture varied, from
f9.0 at 200mm to f12.5 at 1000mm.In the USA catalog, it is listed as:
Focus Dia of glass Covers at f9-11 Covers at f16-6412in focus 1.5in 8x10in 10x12in17in 1.875in 10x12in 14x17in20in 2.375in 12x16in 16x20in24in 2.75in 16x20in 20x24in"
Follow the catalogue, I'm definitely sure with 40" focal length this beast covers 20x24 with ease. I believe it covers 24x30 at infinity and even larger when stopped down. I bought this lens for 20x24 project in far future. But now I realize that I maybe never reach that huge format :(. So this is a chance for your ULF projects. Or it will be nice for your collection... This may be the only chance for you to see a 1000mm Collinear! I will ship worldwide for $99. Any question please dont hesitate to ask me. Happy offerding!
