Vtg 1930's Victorian Revival Plastic Tortoise Operculum Cat's Eye Shell Necklace For Sale
Vintage 1930's Victorian Revival Plastic Tortoise Operculum Shell Necklace
This sale is for a uniquely designed and striking, plastic tortoise shell and Operculum shell necklace, that is from the 1930's - 40's.This necklace measures 16" long, the links graduate in size with the largest at the center measuring 1" in length, and the smallest is 1/2". The necklace closes with an older spring ring clasp that I don't think is original to the piece but it might be. This piece is unique for its design and the combination of materials. The thin plastic is made to simulate tortoise shell with pretty marbling and color and is accented at the front with natural Operculum shells. The shells measure 3/4" in diameter and have a beautiful sheen with a fresh surface that shows off the pretty coloring. There are no chips or surface wear to the shells. There is one pendant that is just off center which has some chipping to the edges of the tortoise shell but it is still noticeable mainly on close inspection and not as the piece is worn. There is some surface wear and scratching to the tortoise shell but it is a modest amount and the plastic still has a nice patina. Overall this is a uniquely designed and striking, plastic tortoise shell and Operculum shell necklace, that is from the 1930's and is in very good condition. There are many more beautiful pieces up for sale this month so please view my other items for the full selection. Shipping Jewelry is carefully wrapped and shipped in boxes to ensure that your vintage piece arrives safely.
