Vtg 1940's - 50's Chinese Silver Filigree Turquoise Dangle Heart Bib Necklace For Sale
Vtg 1940's - 50's Chinese Silver Filigree Turquoise Dangle Heart Bib Necklace
This sale is for a charming and finely designed, silver filigree and turquoise dangle necklace, that was made in China during the 1940's - 50's.This piece is not marked and the setting does not test positive for sterling - it is silver plating over alloy. The necklace measures 19" long, is 2 1/4" wide at its widest point, and the necklace closes securely with its original push clasp. This piece is unique for its intricate design, even the chain is striking, and the unique upside down heart dangles. The heart pendants are 3/4" at their widest points (not including the turquoise) and they are slightly puffy at 1/4" at their thickest point. The hearts dangle freely from the chain so the piece has a lot of movement and sway when worn. The turquoise stones are inset along the chain and at the bottom of the hearts which gives the necklace a lot of color and contrast to the silver. Some of the stones along the chain are not turquoise - they are a little brown - it makes me think that perhaps the turquoise was dyed and there is some wear to the finish. There are no stones missing, it looks like one dangle is repaired (there is a silver brad at the bottom of the stone securing the turquoise in place), and one turquoise looks like it is chipped at the bottom which is noticeable only upon close inspection. Some of the turquoise hang a little askew but they all have a nice color with smooth surfaces and a "rough" cut and shape. There are no irregularities to the setting, the necklace is symmetrical and all of components are intact, and the piece has a very bright and fresh patina with very little wear to the silver plating. Overall this is a charming and finely designed, silver filigree and turquoise dangle necklace, that was made in China during the 1940's - 50's that is in Very good condition.
