Vtg Antique Mission Gothic Medieval Arts & Crafts Ceiling Light Fixture :
This is an antique Mission or Arts & Crafts pendant ceiling fixture with Gothic or Medieval design elements. The ceiling canopy and central hub are cast iron with a hammered texture and painted copper finish. The four arms have a Celtic leaf design at the ends and are cast metal of some kind. Their finish is a bit more gold than the rest of the fixture. The socket parts are true hammered copper.
This thing is big! It's 33" tall and 16" wide, not including the shades. The ceiling canopy and chain account for about 16 1/2" of the height. It weighs about 14 pounds without shades or bulbs!
There are some dings and scratches here and there and the cast iron parts have quite a bit of rust. To me, these just add character to a vintage piece, and the rust mostly blends in with the copper color, but please study the photos carefully. One of the socket holders has a bit of green oxidation near one of the shade-holding screws.
The shades are frosted clear glass. Two of them have fine cracks at the fitter, but the visible parts have no chips or cracks. We bought these separately, so they are not original to the fixture. They add about 5" to the height of the fixture. They're about 4 1/2" wide at the base with a 2 1/4" fitter.
Each of the four sockets has a thumb key switch so they can be turned on and off individually, although I don't know why anyone would want to do that...
The fixture appears to have been re-wired at some point. It worked when set up to take the pictures, but it is an old fixture and I cannot guarantee its safety. If in doubt, have your electrician inspect it before installing. Also, be sure the mounting is extra secure. This baby is a lot heavier than today's tin and plastic fixtures. Bulbs not included - you can get these anywhere or might want a different type.
This would be a grand statement for your castle!
