This pendant is water resistant but is not waterproof. Be sure and remove before bathing,swimming, water balloon fights etc etc etc :o)
It has been such a pleasure (labor of love) to design and make each and every pendant and offer them to you.
ABOUT THE PENDANTS:
With literally thousands and thousands of old vintage postcards and vintage ephemera I just wanted to find away to preserve a little piece of our time and history in a new way.
Allowing people to share in the love of old vintage postcards and sweet old cabinet cards. Things that seem to bring a sweet touching memory to our hearts just looking at them.
There really is no particular need to for them. Other than they are a piece of our history when times were so much simpilier and things were hand drawn and hand painted and the
manufacturing process was not as it is today. Ahhh... The way back when in life our grand parents talked about. Many further back than they even remembered. Saving the old calendars because they
had a pretty picture on them and it brightened up the room. The old trade cards that everyone would wait to get when the new one came out. Maud Humphrey was the best artists in the world when it came to drawing children. Those vintage children sealed in many of my pendant designs. I know many of you know this but in case you don't, Maud Humphrey was the actor Humphrey Bogart's mother. What a wonderful thing it must have been for him to see her art first hand. And a wonderful thing for her to raise such a talented child. I have been blessed to have a few actresses and one actor that I know of purchase my pendants. I think it is wonderful for me to know that they are liked by all walks of life all over our beautiful world. For that I thank each and every lovely person that passes through and takes a look into history with me and sometimes grabs a piece of that history to wear or give to a dear loved one.
Each piece can have a different meaning to someone. For me as an example, I am particial to Ellen Clapsaddle's work. It is not only that she was a beautiful artist that designed some of the most beautiful cards of her time, but also her life story. So many of her old cards and postcards are so highly collectible and sought after and for me to know that she died not even remembering her life. She was an artist that never married, taught children to draw and paint from her parents home and landed a job with the famous Wolf Brother's Publishing Co. of which she became the head artist on staff and was later sent to Germany to head up the art company and printing there. The war broke out and Ellen couldnt get out of Germany and the Wolf Brother's couldnt get in. Once able, one of the brothers got into Germany to look for Ellen and finally found her wandering the street about starved to death and basically out of her mind from being on the streets for a long long time. He got her back to the US and she unfortunately had to be institutionalized. When she died she was buried away from family. Later she was graciously found and moved to be beside her mother and father in a grave with a head stone just megerly marked "Ellen".
What a sad story of such a wonderful artistic lady that is such a large part of our heritage. Just because its a holiday card of Christmas or Halloween for example, does not mean I wont wear until that time. I personally wear many of these pieces any time my heart desires because it makes me feel good and when someone asks about a pendant Im wearing, if its one of Ellen's.. It is her story I tell.
So remember, if you like it.. wear it. It is so fun to step out of the crowd and pull out your own whimsical personality. If anyone says, is that a Christmas Pendant? and its Jume.. Tell them.. Its a Little Piece of Time and In My Cedar Chest says wear it when I want and today... I want!
