Vtg French Limoges Metal Powder Compact With Cobalt Blue & Gold Porcelain Lid For Sale

This is a round vintage gold metal powder compact, probably dating back to the late 1940s or very early 1950s. It's signed LIMOGES on the front and I believe it was made in France. The lid features a round framed piece of porcelain - a gold hand-painted Colonial courting couple against a cobalt blue enameled background (see first five photos below). The back of the compact contains a gold engine-turned design consisting of slightly grooved concentric circles, all converging in the center (see last photo below). Overall condition is very good to excellent.

The compact measures 3" in diameter. Inside, you see an excellent framed mirror, very clear and totally useable. The body of the compact has an open well or compartment for holding loose face powder. However, there currently is no powder in the well. There's a round cloth-topped powder pad present, but I do not believe it is original to the compact. However, this pad was there when I acquired the compact & so I am including it with this sale.

As indicated above, the compact is in very good to excellent vintage condition. All the beautiful blue and gold enamel is there and I see NO dents or dimples or anything else wrong with the metal. Even the underside is in very good condition with only a few discolorations and spots, probably from age and usage. The only reason I didn't describe this compact as being in excellent or even near mint condition is because I do not have the original powder pad and screen for it. Actually, both the front and back on this are in EXCELLENT condition.
