Vtg Very Decorative 1930s Metal Powder Compact W/guilloche Enameling On Lid:
This is a modified square, very decorative gold metal powder compact, probably dating back to early to mid-1930s. It's scalloped all the way around the perimeter in the gold metal. The lid features some beautiful guilloché enameling on a delicate yellow background. The guilloché includes two hand-painted pink roses on a white background, with an entwined square frame all around (see first six photos below). The sides have a wonderful raised stamped design; you can see it in the sixth photo below. The back of the compact continues with the gold metal, but with some usage and dark-ish spots, probably from being set down upon and moved around countless surfaces for the last 80+ years (see last photo below). Overall condition is very good.
The compact measures 2¼" square by ⅝" high. Inside, you see an excellent framed magnifying mirror, quite clear and totally useable. The body of the compact has an open well or compartment, lined with a thin piece of clear plastic. Also, you see a round powder pad, but I do not think it is original to the compact. When I first acquired this compact, the pad was there & so I'm including it with this listing.
As indicated above, overall condition is very good. The guilloche and yellow enameling is all there with no damage. However, the underside has a VERY tiny dimple or depression; it is so small that I could not photograph it effectively. You probably won't even notice it, but I did want to point it out.
