Up for sale is a very rare U.S. MARINE CORPS 1st DIVISION heavy wool over coatVet. named once had CPL. strips on it dated 1941 some moth damage on bottom back side. Has all buttons and the Australia theater made patch was made after GUADALCANAL CAMPAIGN. The Japanese lost 14,800 killed or missing, 9000 dead from disease and 1,000 taken prisoner. Marine and Army casualties totaled 1,598 officers and enlisted men killed and 4,709 wounded. After the battle the Marines were called ragged Ass Marines. The patch on this coat tells it all in the way it looks. Vet. named hard to make out has next to the name HUB. Size is 3L marked. I would rate this coat and mostly the patch as very hard to find.
