Wilardy Rare Htf *compact* Lucite Purse Sparkly Stars Original Powder Inside For SaleTrue vintage from my own collection. By Wilardy, circa 1940s-50s, a rare example of both a clear lucite purse with silvery sparkles or stars inside the plastic throughout, but also a lacy pattern--so it looks like it's made of clear, glittery lace. Besides that, it's a compact purse, very hard to find, with the compact for powder and lipstick built into the lucite lid. The compact opens with its own little clasp, push in and lift. Inside is a pop-up lid powder compact with original powder still inside! and a place for lipstick and cosmetic puff (those aren't included.) The mirror is gorgeous and intact. AND it pulls forward by putting your fingertip in a little notch at the top, so you can stash cigarettes, a hanky, or a love note behind it.
The main compartment of the purse is accessed by just lifting up the entire compact portion of the lid. It's perfectly clean inside and ready to go. The top part just snaps down into place securely w/a lucite flap with slides over the lower portion of the purse. I think there was also a mirror on the inside of the main compartment, but it's gone, leaving just a piece of metallic foil where it was. ALL hinges are strong and work fine.
The bottom is plain, no feet or metal or anything. The purse as a whole has a nice shine to it; it's not all scratched up. No gouges or chips. The handles move easily and are in good shape too. Two flaws only for this whole purse: the metal parts, especially in front of the compact and around the back hinges, has some tarnish or verdigris and will need to be cleaned. And there is one stress crack, about an inch long, in the back of the purse. It doesn't impact the hinges or the use of the purse. I believe it occurred because the whole compact lid portion is quite heavy and should be held when you open it. I think someone let it crash back and the weight hurt the back of the purse. I have used this though, and never had a problem with it; and the crack never got bigger or anything. The purse has been kept in dry, clean conditions and does not smell or show any issues from dampness. It is clean and I gave it an extra dusting just now.
7" across. 3 3/4" high including lid/compact, and 3 1/4" deep. If you put the handles together upright, it is about 8 3/4" tall.
Any questions, feel free to ask. :-)

IF YOU NEED A RUSH ITEM, TELL ME WHEN YOU PAY AND PLEASE SEND AN EXTRA MESSAGE JUST TO BE SAFE! I WILL REPLY AND CONFIRM. Bear in mind overnight mailing is very expensive.offer early. I do try to list a lot of reasonable buy-it-nows even though they cost me more, because they rock. Canadians, UK-ers and Australians, please email me for postage and I'll give you the best option I can; but bear in mind that postal rates have skyrocketed in recent years and there may not even be a ‘cheap’ option, especially if the item is heavy, big,and/or bulky! (Basically, choices are: faster but costly US postal service Priority—which includes tracking—or, cheaper and only slightly slower US postal service First Class Mail, which can’t be tracked but IS insurable up to $400. Items over $50, I automatically insure if you want this shipping method. That way we’re both protected.) Otherwise I only ship to the continental US and Hawaii. NOTE: This is a no-smoking house, but,I own cats. They don't wear my clothes, but if you are extremely allergic, please either offer with caution or wash/clean the item before you wear/use it. Thanks!
