Wonderful Antique Original Revolutionary War Sword & Scabbard W/ Neat Engravings For Sale
Here is a piece of history I never thought I would own, a wonderful original sword and scabbard from the Revolutionary War with very rare hand engravings on the blade. Pictures 4, 5, 6 and 8 show these engravings, the first 3 on one side, the #8 picture of the other side. As you can see, they are both crossed flags, but with a little different theme, #5 has a drum on the center, #8 has a trumpet, and best of all, #8, at the base of one of the flags, has engraved the #13, (has to be for the 13 original colonies....doesn't it??). I feel for the age, its in wonderful condition, the blade is nice, the leather on the hanging strap is deteriorated, but on the scabbard wrapping, pretty good. It also has engraving all up and down the brass trimming on the scabbard, pictures #10, 11 and 12. I am not a knowledgeable person on weapons, or on the Revolutionary war, I just did a lot of research at the library and on line, and feel I am giving straightforward and honest information to the best of my ability. Because I am not an expert and have no paperwork, I have to sell this as is, but I have NO doubt you collectors out there will know exactly what this is and WAY more than I have been able to find out!! Any information I can supply, please contact me and I will do my best. The sword, without the scabbard measures 40 inches long, tip to tip. A great piece of early American History, I feel this is a museum piece and that is where it belongs!! DO NOT PAY VIA S INVOICE SYSTEM, THEY ARE WRONG MORE TIMES THAN NOT, WAIT FOR MY INVOICE!!
