A very beautiful Swiss Brienz or german black forest
wooden letter box, handmade by a genius master carver.I have NEVER seen one like this before!
It was made of brown walnut wood ( the pics look a little bit too orange),
the original key is still there! In the center you find the original old glass
pane and on top is a slot for the letters. There is an additional thin wood
board mounted inside, seems it is for sustaining the paper when one is
reading it or to make a recent letter visible while the older ones can
be hidden behind it.
AGE: app. 1870- 1930, not easy to estimate.
CONDITION : in very good and original condition, near MINT !
Just two small leaf tips left and right in the outer center of the intricate
vine leaf carving arechipped, but you must have a close look to find this, see pics.
SIZE from bottom to bird\'s tail end:app.12 inches(31 cm).
It is 8,5 inches wide and 3,5inches deep.
