This is for alovely old German souvenir desktop travelling inkwell. It is in the form of a wooden barrel with brass rings around the barrel. The hinged lin is inset with different coloured semi precious stones with a name along the centre. The button on the front releases the lid which springs open and inside is another catch that releases the inner lid. This lid is marked 'Gesetzlich Geschutzt and has a dolphin wrapped around an anchor trade mark. The glass bottle is stored inside and the underside of the lid has a sprung centre to seal the bottle when the lid is down. It is in excellent condition, the wood has a lovely patina and the catches work as they should. There is nodamage tothe glass bottle there is a tiny little chip to the edge of the stone on the lid but that is all, it doesn't look like there has ever been ink in the bottle. It measures 50mm (2") in diameter and stands 59mm (2.25") tall.
