Fantastic original 8 days Mid Century Desk Clock manufactured by Europa around 1955.


Extremely rare design that make the clock look like a piece of taken directly from a space age theme movie, the most striking
feature being the dial shaped like claws enclosing firmly
the clock casing.

Unusual about this clock is the fact that it has an alarm (even more
unusual is the fact that there is only one wind up key for both 8 days mechanism and alarm) .


Europa clocks were only manufactured for 30 years.
Nice detail like the globe shaped glass, the stylised number and hands make this clock really stand out!

The 8 Days wind up mechanism works very well and on time,
the alarm (very short bell sound) is a bit tired.

UPDATE to DESCRIPTION:
To set the alarm,there is a very small needle at the center of the dial (it s hidden by the large hands)
the right knob at the back will let you adjust it.I m still not sure how the alarm bell itself is set, but
I think, to have the alarm activated, one has to wind up the clock completely,
the last bit of winding seems to wind up the alarm bell. I had written that the bell is short, but actually once it bells,
it can be quite long until the stop button
at the back (at the left) is pushed
(later is a bit tired as I had to try a couple of times to have the bell stop)
to activate the alarm, this button must be pulled out again.
