You are offerding on a box of love letters from World War 2. The letters were written by Lester L. Sylva, a SeaBee in The 135th Naval Construction Battalion, to Miss Gertrude Hudgens of Lafayette, Indiana. There are 176 letters from January 10, 1944 - September 13, 1944. The letters begin when Lester L. Sylva was in Gulport, Mississippi and end with him in Pearl Harbor. A couple of letters have pictures. 90 of the letters are stamped: Navel Censor. These 90 letters are dated between May 28 and Sept 13, 1944.The letter dated Aug. 22, 1944.
