Description and my overall condition observations:Overall measurements of the bayonet without scabbard is 20-1/2" Blade measures 16" x 1" wide Guard measures 3-1/2" wide x 1/4" thick Handle measures 4-1/4" long x about 1" Overall measurements of the scabbard is 17" long.Blade looks to be in good condition. It's not the same color throughout. Some areas are a dark gray (almost black) and other areas are showing metal. See my attached photos. I see no nicks, cracks, rust or pitting. The point is very slightly rounded and the blade edge appears to be very sharp. One side of the blade reads "US 257069" with the reverse side reading "RIA flame logo 1917" (see my attached photos).The guard is almost black in color and has a slight wiggle to it. The scabbard catch works perfectly. I see no nicks, cracks, rust or pitting.The handles show six intriguing hand made grooves forming the same pattern on each side (see my attached photos). The handles are dark wood and show some scuff marks. I see no breaks or cracks.The scabbard is original but is missing the canvas cover. The inside of the
scabbard is wood with the metal throat attached. Over that is sewn a rawhide layer. This rawhide shows soiling and wear including some missing stitches and also missing is a 3/8" band of rawhide toward the bottom of the scabbard (see my attached photos). Complete weight including bayonet and scabbard comes in at 1 pound 7 ounces.
