Ww1 U.s. Military Model 1917 Bolo Knife A.c. Co. Chicago 1918 + 1918 Scabbard For Sale
This is a very nice M1917 Bolo Knife in excellent condition. This could be used as a short machete or in close combat. Bolos were not issued to every soldier but a few were distributed to each unit in accordance with the T/O for the type of unit deployed and their mission. Machine gun squads received bolos for use in clearing their field of fire.
A further change was made to ease production, this saw the pommel and tang being made from a single piece of steel, these Bolo's were marked CT for commercial quality.
Because of its shortness, weight, and guard, the Army's bolo was an inefficient brush knife compared to a well designed machete. The M-1942 18 inch, broad-blad machetereplaced these bolo knives early in World War II.
Details on Bolo Knife: Wood handle, black blade. Markings "U.S. Mod 1917 C.T." & "A.C. Co. Chicago 1918"
Details on Scabbard: Nice quality canvas covering over sheath. Markings: ink stamp on canvas reads, "M.A.S." on the leather tip it reads, "Brauer Bros. 1918". It is all very legible and claerly stamped.
Please watch for my other sales in the coming
days, weeks and months to come for other WWI & WWII items. I recently
came across a widow who wanted to sell all of her husbands "junk".
Her husband had amassed a VERY large collection of WWI & WWII GI
issue items. What is so special about his collection, is that he didn't
collect just "junk" and "field used" items. A
majority of the items he collected are all in VERY GOOD to MINT condition.
He had a true eye for finding the unissued items, and I was the fortunate
fellow to come across it all. If I only had the room to display it all
Be sure to bookmark me as a seller and watch the many very nice and
unique and rare items I'll be posting! Most of which I will be posting at
$.01 starting price!
