WW1 WWI IMPERIAL GERMAN ARMY BLUE WAFFENROCK TUNIC JACKET COAT ORIGINAL INFANTRY:
$255.00

Have had this one a long time, never really investigated it too much or figured it out. Appears to be a pre-WWI infantry Waffenrock with Brandenburg-style cuffs that might have been a privately made piece, perhaps for a one-year-volunteer? I\'m not an expert on these things, I collect helmets, but I picked this one up at a sale years ago and thought I\'d eventually use it for display - that\'s never gonna\' happen, so somebody out there needs it!
I imagine it dates from the 1890s by the looks of it, lining has some wear, especially at the collar, but it\'s padded lining and curiously marked. The insides of the sleeves both have the number \"38\" stamped in them near where the shoulder boards were - was this a tunic for the 38th Regiment? I have no idea. The shoulder boards were removed for whatever reason and you can see where the gaps were sewn closed and the button holes sewn were sewn up. Add a set of shoulder boards and this one will display much better! The cuffs are also odd in that the buttons are centered rather than off-center as I\'ve usually seen. One button is missing on the front, and it looks like all the buttons may have been replaced at some time long ago. There was also (presumably) gold tresse around the cuffs and collar at one point, which is gone now, but you can still see the outline of it and where it was sewn on - maybe the tunic got handed-down or reissued?
Whatever the case, here it is, a pre-WWI Prussian or German Dunkelblau dress Waffenrock tunic that\'s bargain basement priced - , you guys decide what it\'s worth. I don\'t know any more about it than what\'s been said - it is small - probably about a Size 36R if you\'re thinking of wearing it, so unless you\'re quite tiny I wouldn\'t entertain that idea.
Please ask questions first, all sales final, I do my best to describe things. Will ship to U.S. addresses only, buyer to pay for USPS priority mail postage. Thanks and God bless.
