Genuine, authentic, original hand signedphotograph of LuftwaffeGeneralfeldmarschall Albert Kesselring.
Kesselring was among the most decorated German soldiersand among withhighest ranked German Air Force/Infantry Field commanders during WW2. Kesselring was the only WW2 commander of any large military force to command successfully airborne combat and field combat troops alike over a long period of time.
Kesselring was known as the "Smiling General" by the Allies, and "Uncle Albert" by the Axis troops; and popular among both. A career Army officer, he was a ranking officer in the Reichs Aviation Department between Wars, and helped found the new Luftwaffe. Soon Kesselring became a leading commander in the Invasion of Poland, Battle of France and Britain, Operation Barbarossa, the Mediterranean Campaign especially North Africa. Much later he was the leading German commander in Italy from 1943-45, until being recalled to the Central European Campaign in 1945.
Kesselringattained the rank of Generalfeldmarschall (one of only 27 of 5 star rank in the German Armed Forces). And because of his personal extreme bravery and successful military leadership, he was awarded the Knights Cross of the Iron Cross with Oakleaves, Swords and Diamonds, again, only 1 of 27 soldiers to receive this high honor during the War.
The large 4 x 6 inch sepia postcard photograph shows Kesselring in this General's uniform wearing his Knights Cross award, and he has signed his name below his image in blue fountain pen ink. The reverse side has corner markings from previous album mountain (no bleeding or damage). The foto has a small, barely visible center crease and some edge bumps as shown in the scan, otherwise in very good condition. Kesselring is scarce.
