Ww2 Orig. Eisenhower D-day Letter, Very Rare Bill Mauldin's Willie & Joe Poster:
This is a very interesting lot. First up is a bunch of original GI taken photos. Two are showing the liberation of Calais France, Two have GI's posing in front of German JU88 bombers, one of the 90th Infantry Division crossing the Rhine River and three of a US halftrack with a Quad .50 mount on it. These photos are not from the same soldier or units. They are in good conditions but may have some bends or creases, and may have writng on the backs. Plese see photos for conditon. sizes The next three items all came from a soldier that served in Pattons Third Army as an MP. They came out of the same photo album so I thought I'd keep them all ------First is an Original Franklin D. Roosevelt Army Expeditionary Forces Letter on White House letter head. It has a Facsimile FDR signature on it. Meaning it was done in bulk not personally signed. These were given to soldiers as they were shipped over seas. It is in decent shape, but been folded and creased over time. And is yellowing a bit. it has residue from being in a photo album for many years on the back. It measures approximately 6.25" x Second is a Scarce Original letter that is refered to as the Eisenhower D-Day letter. It was given to soldiers and sailors that were taking part in the invasion in 1944 by General Eisenhower from the Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Force. It bares his facsimile Signature on it. These were never designed to last or survive the war. Since they were given to soldiers about to embark into battle most were either lost, burned to start a fire or even used as toilet paper in the field. This is in good condition, has a small tear on top, and residue from being glued into a photo album. Its also been folded. This came from the same 3rd Army soldier as the FDR letter. it measures approx 6" x 9" Very thin paper, has one lower edge rough from being cut from the printed roll of letters done in Third is Ultra Rare. I've never seen another like it. Its a poster of the GI favorite cartoon characters Willie & Joe. Artist Bill Mauldin's creation. It was printed or reproduced by the 652nd Engineers. It showes the GI's disdain for Pattons rules and regulations for uniform and appearance in the ETO. Its very very cool!!! It is in very good shape with some folds and creases as well as slight yellowing. It measures approx. 19" x 22" It came from the same 3rd Army MP as the other two letters. All items are being sold as is, so please ask any questions in advance. You can refer to the photos for an idea of conditions. I will ship these anywhere in the continental US for FREE!!!! I will send these any where in the world as well, but I will only do so if they are registered, which is $9.00. I accept Paypal and payment is due within 3 days of the sales end.
