checkit Store WW2 USAAF POW Photo ID from Luft Stalag I - with German Folder -
This is a really interesting grouping from a Navigator in the 492nd Bomb Group. It's his POW Photo ID and Information Card from Luft Stag I, along with a WW2 German File Folder that he carried the paperwork in.
4 1/8" x 6 1/2" pink file card has the Prisoner's POW ID Number, Nationality, Barracks Assignment, etc. The Photo is captioned "KgF. Lg. d. Lw. I" [Kriegsgefangener Lager der Luftwaffe I - Luftwaffe Prisoner of War Camp One], with the Officer's name and POW ID Number.
File Card is mounted on a 6 1/2" x 9 1/4" piece of paper which reads "Prisoner of War in Germany from July 7, 1944 until May 1, 1945. Liberated by Russian Forces of Marshal Rokitovsky and Gen. Borisov at 10:21 am May 1, 1945, twenty four hours after the German troops evacuated the camp and the vicinity. Recovered by American forces May 13 and flown in 'Fortresses' to Laon, France. Days in Germany - 310".
This was found in a nice, heavy file folder with Heer Adler artwork and a Patriotic Slogan on the cover, and marked on the back that the contents were distributed by "Propagandakompanie der Armee Busch". The folder has modern Scotch tape on the folds - still, a very nice bonus (more pics available).
