Wwi But Savings Stamp Bond Propaganda Poster Flagg Uncle Sam Tells You Save 1248 For Sale
The2FunAdGuyz offer a new, high-quality reproduction print of a World War I War Savings Stamps poster done by one of the most famous of the World War I, James Montgomery Flagg. Flagg did over forty works for the government and actively supervised and recruited other artists for the war effort. His works include the most famous war poster of all time, The Uncle Sam I Want You! poster, of which this poster is a variant. The difference is that in this poster Uncle Sam has placed his hands on his sides, perhaps a sign that he is commanding the viewer. This is emphasized by the headline that reads: I Am Telling You… This time Flagg is talking to a civilian audience, urging them to buy War Stamps. The copy continues: On June 28th I expect you to enlist in the army of war savers to back up my army of fighters.
The American Lithographic Co. did the original lithograph on which this print is based in 1918. War Savings Stamps (W. S. S.) Enlistment produced the poster and their Torch of Liberty Logo appears at the lower right.
