This is a very nice grouping of misc. items for WWI Marine Corporal Orrin Ellis Burgan. The items are: Post WWI overseas cap with post WWI Eagle, Globe and Anchor emblem, miniature French Fourragere, Honorable Discharge pin and Marine Corps League pin, Named card from Headquarters Marine Corps authorizing the wearing of the French Fourragere Register Number 1590 issued Apr. 28, 1920, Named card for membership in the American Legion dated May 11, 1920, His dog tag with his name and date of enlistment 19Apr17 and USMC on the front the back has his service number (not pictured) #118923, a a document in French with his name on it, a French Post Office receipt, an Army song book, a booklet Commendations Second Division (held together with scotch tape), a picture of Corporal Burgan and last but not least his Honorable Discharge. On the backside of the discharge where it has Battles,engagements, skirmishes, expeditions, this is what is hand written: Embarked on USS Henderson, Philadelphia, Pa. 31 July,1917, sailed for New York waters, 5 August, 1917, anchored off New York, 7 Aug. 1917.Sailed from New York, 7 August 1917 for foreign service. Belleau Woods, same sector, 6 June to 4 July, 1918, participating in the attack against the enemy.Soissons Sector (South) 17 July, 1918 to 23 July, 1918. Took part in attack against the enemy at Villiers-Cottesets, St. Mihiel Sector, Salient, Attacked against the enemy, capture of Thiacoust and Jaulny, 12 to 15 Sept. (inc) 1918.Oct. 1 st. to 9th. I may have misspelled a few words but it is all on his discharge paper and I couldn't get a close enough picture of all the text. The overseas cap has seen better days, the inside is a jumble of loose threads. This is an original grouping for this Marine.
