WE ARE OFFERING A SET OF WWI GERMAN ARMY ENLISTED-MANS MARCHING BOOTS. THESE STURDY HONAILED "JACKBOOTS" WERE USED FROM THE BEGINNING OF THE WAR THRUEARLY 1918.

THE BOOTS MEASURE 13 INCHES TALL, 12INCHES FROM HEEL TO TOE ANDARE MADE OF BROWN LEATHER WITH PULL UP TABS. THE SOLE READS: III 43 30 (see photo's 6 & 9) THE OUTTER CUFF READS: 4059-9 (see photo 4) THESE ARE A CLASSIC TOUGH COMBAT BOOT USED BY THE IMPERIAL INFANTRY ARMYIN WORLD WAR I. THE GERMANS CALLED THIS BOOT "MARSCHSTIEFEL", MEANING, "MARCHING BOOT".

THE CONDITION OF THE BOOTS ARE VERY GOOD ALTHOUGHTHE LEATHER IS STIFF FROM AGE. THEY HAVE BEEN WELL PRESERVED AND CARED FOR ANDCOME TO YOU FROMA LOCAL ESTATE SALE.

WORN OUT BOOTS WERE CONSIDERED A MAJOR PROBLEM FOR ARMIES ON THE MARCH AND THE HIGH QUALITY LEATHER "JACKBOOT" WITH IT'S HOBNAILS WERE DEEMED MORE DURABLE FOR LONG DISTANCE MARCHING THAT THE GERMANSOLDIERS HAD TO PERFORM.
