Willis Carl Anderson was a Bandsman with the Mt Division out of Virginia during WWI, We presently have 8 lots of his items just aquired directly from the family, This lot is for the helmet with HQ insignia only, but we have his photos, shirts, canteen with belt, helmet with insignia, brass bugle, Conn long bugle, an unusual trench knife, and opera glasses up all for your offerding pleasure. Brass bugle measuring approximately 9\" long with the mouthpiece stamped JW York & Sons etc. 2-27-18, Has a few dents in it, but it has been through a war, Does play, Willis enlisted in 1917 as a Bandsman, his family says he could play any instrument including the piano, The band was assigned to HQ thus the HQ button on the uniform and the insignia on the helmet, the bandsmend were also stretcher bearers and maybe that explains what appears to be a blood stain on 1 shirt, Willis was also gassed, but survived and returned home in 1919.
