This is about as fine Patton Cav Saber you will find. It has its original canvas covered sheath with metal throat and tip. The hilt retains its original color and patina. There are no cracks or chips in the grips.
The blade is 35 3/8" long x 1 3/16" wide. The blade is in excellent overall condition with only a few minor nicks in the blade. The blade retains its bright polish with only a few finger print area discolorations.
This is the first year of production of the Patton sword and this sword is dated 1913 and the S A and proof mark for Springfield Armory. On the opposite side of the ricasso is marked U S, SN 1167.
This is an early production in the first year. There is some staining on the canvas sheath at the bottom, the last 6" and there is a small hole in the canvas less than 1/4" on the edge. This sword was
designed by General George S. Patton. He was the most feared leader by the Germans during WWII.
