Wwii Letter 1945 Combat Attack Japanese Planes Navy Ship Ww2 Military Vtg Paper:
An original World War Two letter including the envelope written by J. B. McDonough. The letter is dated Feb 19, 1945. In the letter he talks about Japanese planes. I currently have other letters written by this individual listed. The letter reads:
I have been out over two months and this is the first time I have written. I am sorry that I waited so long.........We have covered a lot of water since we left New Orlenas. My ship has been to the Admiralty Islands, Marshals + Gilberts..............We have seen some action the past few weeks. Several air attacks and some sub alerts. One ship that fell out of the convoy was attack by twenty six J_p planes. She made it through with a loss of__ gun crew..............We expect to meet a lot of trouble before the trip is over. But we are confident that we will come through all right.............Jimmy
The letter is in good condition, there are pieces that have been cut out in various areas as he was obviously in a combat zone and the censor wanted to keep some information a secret.
