An original World War Two letter including the envelope that belonged to Navy Seabee Charles Allaben. This was a letter written to him. The letter is dated May 16, 45. In the letter the writer talks about a husband who was captured during the D-day or Normandy invasion. The letter reads:
Gosh yesterday was an exciting day at work. Betty Nobles a girl working up in Home Ec. heard from her paratrooper husband by cable. She has been waiting since March to hear what happened to him. He was captured on D-day & had been a prisoner of Germ. until his camp was liberated near Neurenberg. She is the happiest girl you could ever imagine. Her husband was our star football player in high school. I'm certainly happy for them. She has great plans for starting her family now imagine this isn't very interest to you, but we are all excited about it...........Mary
