Wwii Us Army Air Force Air Medal Wings Complete History Documents Of A Sergeant For Sale
This is one of the best WWII groups of medals and paperwork I have ever come across. You need to check out all of the photos really well. Everything I am going to tell you about this soldier is documented by paperwork and a lot of it. Technical Sergeant Andrew D. McAteer was born Dec. 8 1911 from Pittsburgh P.A. he was 31 when in went into the Army Air Force. He served from April 16, 1943 to Oct. 27, 1945 he was a Radio Operator and Gunner. He spent 20 weeks at Scott Field to be trained as a radio operator mechanic then 5 weeks in Reno, N.V. where he learned radio navigation and the 6 weeks in Yuma, Arizona for Aerial Gunnery where he learned to fire 30 and 50 cal machine guns. He learned air to air, ground to ground, air to ground and learned 1st and 2nd echelon repair of guns. He was with the 305th Bombardment group and the 366th Bomb Squadron he flew 30 missions. Serving in radio communications and machine gun operator. Included are individual flight records and a classified paper of ALL 30 BOMBING MISSIONS it is picture number 10. He was awarded the Air Medal on Aug 4,1944 and received Oak Leaf Cluster on Sept. 22.1944.Also have the Aerial Gunner's Wings and Certificate of Appreciation from the Army Air Force and a Meritorious Service Award from the same. Again all of this is paperwork that I have and is next to the medals in the pictures.Physical report dated April 26, 1943, dental records, list of vaccines also First Aid for Soldiers Basic Field manual dated April 17, 1943. The Veteran's guide Melon National Bank telling soldiers about loans, re-employment, Pensions etc. Also Life Insurance receipts, soldier pay record filled out front cover the rest is blank. Honorable discharge paperwork and His Service Record book not filled out. Also have personal letters and black and white photo's from the soldier. And I am sure some other paperwork I didn't mention. The Aerial Gunner's Wings have sterling marked on the back and none of the medals have been cleaned everything is just as I found it. This is an awesome lot of WWII history and someone is going to be very happy with it. You just don't see this complete medals and paperwork together anymore.
