Wwii Usmc Medal And Insignia Group - Corregidor Pow:
This is a group of insignia from one Marine, who served in WWII and the Korean War. He was taken prisoner on Corregidor, and with his China Service Medal, was probably one of the Marines from the famed Fourth Marines sent from Shanghai to defend the Phillipines. I haven't researched this Marine, but there is this public online record of him...Prisoner of War Medal
Corporal Chester A. NoPorter (MCSN: 207180), United States Marine Corps, was captured by the Japanese after the fall of Corregidor, Philippine Islands, on 6 May 1942, and was held as a Prisoner of War until he was returned to U.S. Military Control at the end of the war.General Orders: NARA Database: Records of World War II Prisoners of War, created, 1942 - 1947Action Date: May 6, 1942 - September 1945Service: USMCRank: CorporalDivision: Prisoner of War (Philippine Islands & Japan) I haven't added anything or taken it away from the group, and it has his EGAs, NCO buckle, WWII and laterdog tags, and so on - a really neat set to a Marine who faced one of our bleakest moments: capture at the hands of the Japanese and three years of POW punishment. This Leatherneck went on to fight again in Korea.
