Wwii Sailor Uss Bell Dd587 Archive 500+ Letters And More For Sale
A really massive archive of letters and more from a WWII Sailor on the US Navy ship USS Bell. His name is Pat DeSimone and he was from from Syracuse, NY. The material fills a 12" x 12" x 12" box. It appears there is every letter he wrote to his wife and every letter she wrote to him. I counted at least 500 letters (yes - five hundred). In addition there are WWII era comic postcards and also patriotic Christmas cards. Other items are his picture, his draft notice, items from his training at US Naval training center in Sampson, NY, a thank you letter from the Sect of Navy James Forestal dated 1/22/46 etc etc
All the letters he wrote have a censor stamp on the envelope. I have provided a close up of a very poignant letter he wrote to his infant son so that you can read it. This ship took part in many famous battles and campaigns including Marshall Islands invasion, Saipan invasion, battle of Phillipine sea, Guam invasion, Okinawa raid, etc
