War Date Signature Brigadier General Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain 20th Maine:

Extremely scarce war date cut signature of Brigadier General Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain of 20th Maine fame. Chamberlain is well known for his stand on top of Little Round Top at Gettysburg on Day 2. In 1864 he would be seriously wounded at Petersburg and was expected to die. He was promoted to Brigadier General on the battlefield by U.S. Grant. He was able to survive his wounds and later took command once again in Novemeber of 1864. The cut war date signature would date from November 1864 to April 1865. Chamberlain left the military after the war ended putting this signature in this very small time period. The signature is professionally framed in this 8 by 12 glass frame. It will be shipped free within the Continental US by Priority Mail. War date signatures by Chamberlain are extremely rare with most being post war from his time at Bowdoin College.
