Watchtower Bible Tract Portable Phonograph & Rutherford Record -jehova's Witness For Sale

Up for consideration is a great example of a Watchtower phonograph produced and used in the late 1930's. This Portable Record Player was used by The Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society. Jehovah's Whiteness used this phonograph to deliver their messages door to door. They would carry this machine along with a set of J. F. RUTHERFORD records and play them for anyone willing to listen. Also included in the sale is an original Rutherford record as would have been originally carried with the machine. This example is in very good condition both cosmetically and mechanically speaking. The outer covering is clean with only a few small abrasions along the corners. The leather covered handle is solid showing some wear. The crank and escutcheon have oxidation as can be seen in the pictures. The turntable velvet is very nice and has good color. There is minor oxidation on the nickel plated hardware but nothing major. The original Watchtower label under the lid is very nice displaying serial #31351. The spring used to keep pressure on the record to prevent it from moving around while carrying the machine is intact and works well. The motor is nearly silent when running and has plenty of power to get through a 12" record. The reproducer sounds great and the tonearm tracks as it should. This phonograph looks and sounds great and would make a great addition to any collection as they don't show up often in this condition.
