~ Antique & Rare Waterman 12

Very FLex #2 (New York) Ideal Nib Fountain Pen ~ Eyedropper

~ Wonderful Nib :-)

Please enlarge all 12 photos & read all the text for detail
  • working vintage (antique) approx 110 year old pen ,a Very well preserved & Very collectible pen and a very usable a Writing Tool also :-) It is ready to fill with ink & write :-) it is crack & warp free & a very sturdy pen with a very nice nib :-) a Very attractive (and Historical!) pen overall I feel..., the pen has beautiful hard rubber - and a beautiful Overlay - No dents, no cracks, no chips, no scratching. the pen overall is quite bright, straight and very well preserved, Very displayable example. ~The Overlay is marked \"FINE .999/1000 SILVER\" & \"Waterman\'s Ideal Fountain Pen\" Very clear model number (12 ) on the end . the hard rubber has some fade to a bark brown with a \'tan line\' from the cap, - The cap has a perfect cap lip - the cap is a slip fit cap and it fits on and posts perfectly - The section has perfect threads and fits perfectly
  • Full size Pen ~ approx 5 & 3/8\" capped and 6 & 13/16\" Posted -
  • The feed still has traces of the factory markings underneath
  • Notes concerning the Overlay on the barrel and cap, The barrel has a \"FINE .999/1000 SILVER\" (as marked) a very early (1908 or earlier) , there is a nicely executed 3 letter engraving as shown, ~~ The pocket clip however is marked \"STERLING\" and the cap overlay looks to be sterling silver also. ~ So; the cap is most likely a later replacement, it could be that a repair shop replaced the cap with the sterling cap you see here (it is a very nice genuine Waterman eyedropper cap) , But it seems to be that the cap & barrel have been together for quite some time - The cap top is near perfect - The Silver clip & Silver overlays on both the barrel & cap are tight with no problems other than general wear.
  • Very nice Early \"New York\" Nib,(with the earlier \"No.2 instead of the later \"#2\") a flexy IDEAL #2 Nib, 14K , Graceful tines , Easy flex - X fine point with a light hand, with Excellent Iridium tipping , the nib has a little response or road feel, like writing with a very sharp pencil or a fine Victorian dip pen nib :-) , Quite Flexy, And almost \"Wet Noodle easy\" status, (or Could be Superflex), very nice line variation, going from Fine to 1.6 mm possible, But for longevity of the nib I would stay @ 1.4mm & below, for a nice nib life of flexing pleasure, if you have a light hand you will still have control for every day extra fine point writing. but you most likely will find your self flexing with out trying. When you want some line variation, it goes from a fine point to a wider line as shown with light to medium pressure, it has a nice easy soft feel. it will provide excellent line variation & expression. NOT a nib for a beginner in flexing, Some experience is recommended before using this antique flexible nib.
  • the writing sample shown was made by dipping the nib in ink, I am certain the pen will perform as intended/designed when filled, Very Deep channel feed = very good ink flow (some inks will perform better than others) - the section threads are perfect, but I put a little silicone on the threads any way - a Leak free pen - the writing sample will be included with the pen - there may still be ink residue in the barrel, the section, nib & feed have been ultrasonically cleaned.
  • Great for doodling , sketching , or expressive letter writing :-) copperplate / Spencerian.
  • The Paper is from a Rhodia Dotpad No. 16, the dots are 5mm apart to help you gauge the line variation. The inks are Waterman South Sea Blue (inspired) , & Diamine Monaco Red.
  • Full size Pen ~ approx 5 & 3/8\" capped and 6 & 13/16\" Posted Fits my hand well when posted.
