Wedgwood Large Creamware Monteith First Edition 1953 Wedwood Club Bowl For Sale
Offered for sale is one of the more unusual and hard-to-find pieces for the collector of 20th century wedgwood. This is a commemorative monteith made to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Wedgwood club in 1953. It is Queen's Ware, and is a replica of an 18th-century monteith made by Wedgwood showing the names of the original 13 states. Monteiths were used in the 18th-century to chill wine glasses. The monteith was filled with chilled water, and the glasses were suspended by their footed stems. A monteith of this size could cool 12 wine glasses at one time. The piece measures12-1/2 inches from handle to handle, and 8 inches across. It stands 6 inches high. This piece is in excellent condition.There are no chips, cracks, or crazing.
