Western Electric Conference Set: 6v6gt Tube Amp, Pre, Altec 755c In Slant Cabs:
This is a vintage Western Electric Conference Set, KS-19134, L1 ,which includes one KS-16617-L1 6V6GT tube amp, one B-553985 control chassis (preamp), a pair of Altec 755C speakers in Western Electric slant cabinets, one Altec 682A microphone, and connecting cables. It is all packaged in two handsome leather-covered carrying cases. The leather exteriors of both cases are in excellent condition with only a few minor nicks here and there.
I slowly powered up the amp/preamp chassis and the tubes all lit up nicely. The tubes look hardly used with a matching pair of Sylvania 6V6GT output tubes. The DCR measurements for the Altec 755C speakers are 6.3 and 6.4 ohms.
The amplifier and preamplifier unit weighs 62 pounds before packing and the dimensions are 20 inches wide X 10 ½ inches deep X 19 ½ inches tall. The speaker cabinet unit weighs 32 pounds before packing and the dimensions are 20 inches wide X 12 ¾ inches deep X 20 ½ inches tall. Units will be packed in two separate boxes for shipping in the U.S. I can only enter one weight for the shipping cost calculator, so I have entered the weight for the larger box. Shipping in the U.S. will probably be about 50% more than this quote. For international shipping, they are too large to ship by USPS Priority Mail, making the only option Global Express Guaranteed. This is too expensive, so I plan on shipping them overseas by Pilot Air Freight. For shipping quote purposes, I am estimating 70 pounds and 25 X 15 X 25 inches for amp/preamp box and 39 pounds and 25 X 18 X 25 inches for the speaker cabinet box. I called Pilot Air Freight for quotes to either the Hong Kong airport or Tokyo airport and got a price of $392.75 total for shipping both to either airport. There may be some slight adjustment of this figure after I actually pack and weigh them, but it should be close. Please email me if you have other shipping preferences....or other questions.
I am pleased and proud to report that on January 28, 2013, I celebrated my 15th year selling on . Please check my 100% positive response. Thanks to you for your continuing support!
General Business Policies:
A. Shipping: If you win the sale, please wait for me to send the invoice. This will allow me to pack and weigh the item accurately. Please use the shipping cost calculator on the sale page to get an estimate of the shipping cost. I am usually correct with this estimate, but some slight adjustments are occasionally necessary due to unforeseen circumstances. If you prefer shipping by a method that I do not have listed, please contact me before offerding. I have an account with FedEx and prefer it for domestic shipping.
B. Insurance and Tracking: USPS First Class Mail has no tracking available and I cannot guarantee delivery. USPS Priority International Mail is trackable to the receiving country’s customs office, but not to your mailbox or doorstep. Any overseas sale item between $100 and $250 value will be shipped by USPS Priority Mail. Any overseas sale item exceeding $250 in value will require USPS Express Mail shipping with signature upon delivery. I will only ship USPS First Class Mail to mainland China, Thailand, and Italy, if the buyer agrees to accept the risk of package loss. Your selection of, and payment for First Class shipping in my invoice is considered your acceptance of that risk.
C. Packing: I do my own packing and pack very well - see my response. Please do not instruct me on how to pack your item.
D. Paperwork: I do not include a hard-copy invoice with sold items. If you will need any additional paperwork, please email me before offerding.
E. Refund Policy: I will refund if there is a discrepancy with the item and my description of it..
F. response: I always leave positive response when I receive the same.On Apr-21-13 at 16:13:39 PDT, seller added the following information:I have another matching amp (but not preamp) to the one in this set that I could list for buyers who wish to make this into a Western Electric stereo system. I have sold a number of pairs of these amps in the past to such users.
