OK, here\'s something pretty unique that you don\'t see every day - Whilce Portacio\'s ACTUAL SKETCHBOOK.
Not one of those things sold at conventions that are mass produced but an actual sketchbook.
The sketchbook itself is an 11\" x 14\" Strathmore 400 series, 100 sheets
This is from back in the 1980s, right when Whilce was breaking into comics. Included are a few misc scraps of paper and notes, including a letter dated Sept 9, 1986, a schedule sheet for when Alpha Flight work was due, and even a letter from someone named Richard!
The loose sheets are icing on the cake, but the real awesomeness of this is that EVERY SINGLE PAGE IS FULL OF ART. Figure sketches, character designs, page layouts, story notes, and comics that he was working on, including an adaptation of the Battle of Thermopylae(Ie, what Frank Miller later did called 300). There are sketches of Whilce himself mixed in, places he tested inking, pages cut through where he\'d fold over pieces of art to create or test effects.
It\'s really unlike anything you\'ve seen, such a very cool insight into the art of a comic book master just as he was breaking into the industry.
