World War One British Pilot & Aircraft Photograph Archive 1433 Images Special For Sale
Offered is an archive of 1433 Photographs of World War One British pilots and aircraft from the collection of the late Steve St. Martin, noted aviation historian and researcher. These are glossy prints from the 1960s-1970s which St. Martin purchased from other aviation collectors and from the British Imperial War Museum. But he heart of this collection are 937 3-1/2 inch by 5 inch photographs which St. Martin copied from the albums of former World War One pilots in Canada and in Great Britain. While looking through the collection, I discovered that only a very few have ever been published before. Most of the collection is composed of one-of-a-kind images. These 937 images are in packets with the name of the pilot whose album they were copied from written on the outside of the packet. The total collection is approximately 60% aircraft and 40% pilots. The majority of the other 496 photographs, outside the 937 images in the packets, range from size of 2-1/4 inches by 3-1/2 to 8 inches by 10 inches in size. Most of these fall in the 5 inch by 6 inch size. Most of the photographs are identified on the back and are in sound condition. The collection is in very sound condition.
