XRARE CASA ALLEN 1930s VTG MEXICO MEXICAN STERLING SILVER REPOUSSE BRACELET
Description
This is a VERY RARE and SPECTACULAR vintage sterling silver repousse bracelet that was hand wrought in Mexico, circa 1930's to mid 1940's, by a master silver artist at CASA ALLEN. This bracelet is masterfully crafted in a bold artistic motif that has a great art nouveau look ~ it is EXQUISITELY detailed! It consists of sculptural sterling respousse links that are adorned in the centers with bold silver demi spheres that are framed with twisted silver braiding. The demi spheres are surrounded with a lovely orchestration of feminine silver scroll flourishes with silver ray accents. Repoussage is a technique where malleable metal (such as sterling silver) is shaped or ornamented by hammering from the back or underside. This technique is extremely time consuming and can take an artist an entire day or several days to complete just one piece. The links are connected with soldered silver jump rings. The clasp is the older "pin" type clasp ~ a pin is attached to the bracelet with a silver chain, you push the two ends of the bracelet together and insert the pin into the tube to close the clasp (please see photo). The silver has acquired a wonderful, soft patina that reflects the shadows created by the depth of the designs. This exceptional bracelet is extremely well made in an elegant, sophisticated design that is sure to be noticed and admired ~ it is collector and heirloom quality, quite simply, THE BEST!!!
SIZE: Inside circumference when closed is 7-3/8", width is 1-1/2", and weight is 68.8 grams.
CONDITION: Excellent vintage condition ~ no dings or dents to the silver ~ minor surface scratches consistent with loving wear and age (and actually desirable on vintage pieces) ~ just about PERFECT used condition!
