Xxrare Graf Zeppelin Lz-127 Lakehurst, Nj Landing Crew Star Badge

XXRARE Graf Zeppelin LZ-127 Lakehurst, NJ Landing Crew Star Badge PLEASE NOTE: If you do not have sufficient money or do not intend on paying, please do not offer. If you have less than 10 positive responses please contact us before you offer – unless you were contacted by us via e-mail regarding this sale.
1. COUNTRY of ORIGIN : United States
---------------------------
2. CONTEXT : this is an INCREDIBLY RARE piece of Airship history in general, and Zeppelin in particular. This is the “star” that was made to be worn by the Lakehurst, NJ Landing Crew when the Graf Zeppelin LZ-127 came to land. It is pre-1933 (pre-Nazi) and is 100% ORIGINAL.

The LZ-127 made several landings at Lakehurst, with its most famous being the Zeppelin’s FIRST Intercontinental trip, with Dr. Eckener in command, from its base in Friedrichshafen, Germany – directly to Lakehurst, NJ – on 15 October 1928, landing at the Lakehurst Naval Air Station at 5:38 pm. After an almost two-week stay in the United States, during which time its damaged tail was repaired, the Graf left Lakehurst for Germany at 1:24 am on 29 October and arrived back in Friedrichshafen shortly before dawn on 1 November.

The airship made another attempt to cross the Atlantic for Lakehurst, arriving on 4 August 1929. Four days later, the Graf Zeppelin departed Lakehurst for its most daring and famous trip — a four-leg complete circumnavigation of the globe.

At the behest of American newspaper publisher William Randolph Hearst, whose media empire was the major commercial backer of the project with four staffers among the flight's nine passengers, the Graf's "Round-the-World" (Weltrundfahrt 1929) flight in August 1929 officially began and ended at Lakehurst Naval Air Station.

In May, 1930 the LZ-127 made its first visit to South America as part of a triangular flight between Spain, Brazil, and the United States. The 1930 flight originated in Friedrichshafen on 18 May and stopped first in Seville before leaving Europe. The Graf arrived in Brazil first at Recife (Pernambuco) docking at Campo do Jiquiá on 22 May where it was greeted by a crowd of more than 15,000 before preceding on to Rio de Janeiro. The airship then flew back north to Lakehurst, NJ, before heading east over the Atlantic on 2 June to return to Germany with another stop in Seville. This flight led to the establishment two years later of the Graf's regularly scheduled commercial passenger, mail, and freight service between Germany and Brazil which operated from 1932 to May 1937.

THUS, We do not know WHICH landing at Lakehurst this badge was worn (if not more than one). We though DO know that it has been worn during at least one Graf landing.

Please make sure you are comfortable with its originality BEFORE you offer. We expect this badge to command a hefty price, so we only want serious buyers.

* does not let us list a website address within our descriptions, so we encourage you to do an internet search on the keywords “france mon timbre en ligne,” where you should get to France’s LaPoste website.
---------------------------
If you want your package sent Registered, that is an ADDITIONAL flat fee of $6.00 (prices went up) – this is independent of the First Class postage fee. If you want Registered, please let us know once we send you the initial invoice. changed some rules, so we would need to send you a New Invoice with the additional $6.00 included in the postage price. You will be AUTOMATICALLY Insured for your entire amount.
---------------------------
We guarantee to send your item within three business days following receipt of your payment. Most of our packages are received by the recipients in two weeks or less. But there are occasions when the postal system is slow and your package may take longer to be delivered. This, of course, is completely beyond our control. All we can ask is for you to be patient and accept our apologies for any inconvenience.

Also note that if you have your package sent Registered, but it has not been delivered in what you believe is a reasonable timeframe, please contact us. We must mention though that France’s LaPoste can not start a search until 30 days after the package was sent. These are the rules and realities we must all accept.

NEW SHIPPING POLICY

For both your and our protection, if your combined winning offers equal $100 or more in any one week (prior to shipping costs), having your package sent Registered from now on is REQUIRED (you will be automatically insured) - this will be reflected on your Paypal invoice.

This is NOT optional. Thus, even if you win one item only, you must wait for us to send you a Paypal invoice which will include the costs of Regular First Class postage + Registered. Again, this is for both your and our protection. In the unlikely event that your package “disappears” somewhere in the international postal system, we will all now have a clear path to either locating your package via France’s LaPoste investigating team, or, if they are unsuccessful, you will be refunded your entire amount. Without this added level of protection, we have no way of verifying your claim of a lost package.

We prefer that everyone experiences a smooth transaction and comprehends that the international postal system is not flawless. Sometimes packages do get “lost.” Thus, by instituting this policy, all of us know that there is proper recourse. As such, we are sure you understand the necessity of this new policy, and we appreciate your cooperation. If you do not agree, please do not offer on our items.

Different countries have varied levels of dependability with regard to their postal systems. Over the years, we have had a variety of problems when packages have been sent to countries with relatively low dependability. Thus, if your country is listed below, and your combined winning offers equal $50 or more (not $100 as listed above) in any one week (prior to shipping costs), having your package sent Registered from now on is REQUIRED (you will be automatically insured) - this will be reflected on your Paypal invoice. This is NOT optional. Following is the list of countries to which this policy applies:

ALL countries in Central and South America + Africa + Asia (except Japan, Hong Kong, South Korea, and Taiwan, but DOES INCLUDE China, India and all others) + the following European countries (based on our years of experience with each) : Spain, Italy, Greece, Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Serbia, Moldova, Bulgaria, Romania, Albania, Armenia, and Georgia.

We are not passing judgement on any individual country – we are just basing our decision on our many years of sending packages around the world. As such, we are sure you understand the necessity of this new policy, and we appreciate your cooperation. If you do not agree, please do not offer on our items.

If you only win this one item and know which delivery option you want - if under $100, or under $50 if from one of the countries listed above - feel free to pay via Paypal immediately. If on the other hand, you win two or more items, please do NOT pay us until you receive the Paypal invoice from us that includes all the postage and handling details.
