For your consideration is this very large and impressive 17" long tin battery operated open wheel race car made by Yonezawa ( YONE or Y) of Japan in the early 1960s. Called a Jetspeed Racer by Y, the toy is one of the largest and most desirable tin race cars to be found. It is arguably one of the best looking as well. This Indianapolis 500 style racer is patterned after the extremely successful Watson roadsters that were so popular at Indy back in the day. The car is clean as new and in excellent 100% original condition with all parts intact including the rarely seen factory box. It is in perfect working order as well. The very attractive two tone gray over silver paint with red #7 racing numbers has a brilliant mirror smooth shine with no dents or dings. It shows only a couple minor scuffs on the otherwise pristine finish. Highly detailed vinyl driver is inperfect condition. Heavy plastic windshield has no cracks or breaks and is still firmly attached. Gorgeous dash is heavily detailed with authentic looking gauges. Separate 3 spoke steering wheel looks outstanding. Unique tin whitewalls and Halibrand style mag wheels with knock off spinners show both on the inside and outside of wheels. Very interesting indeed. Rubber tires are all flawless with no cracks or flat spots. Plastic engine cover is mint with no cracks or breaks.Authentic details include external engine oil tank, gas tank fillers on rear fairing, and four into one exhaust header with metal tail pipe that most probably denotes a healthy Offy motor under the hood.Battery box is antiseptic clean. Compartment door opens and closes easily and lock holds it firmly in place when batteries are installed. The multi function toy has a flashing lighted engine with awesome engine sound, speed control, stop / go switch an adjustable front wheels with great bump n go action, clicking motor sound and bright flashinglights in the engine and exhaust. Everything performs flawlessly as it should. Rare original box is still fairly crisp and clean showing only moderate storage wear. There is one older tape repair to inside of lid. Thisis simply a stunning large size tinplate toy race car, one not to be missed. High buyer will certainly not be disappointed. A magnificentinvestment grade piece for any discriminating collector!
