Zenith H723z Bakelite Tube Table Radio Super Nice Recapped 1950 L@@k Plays For Sale
Up for offers is the Zenith H723Z Bakelite Tube Table Radio. The H723Z is a classic Mid Century design, made in 1950-it is pictured on page 327 of Stein's Machine Age 2. The radio is in great condition and it plays well. The brown bakelite case looks great. It retains its original dark lustre and shine. This case shows no fading, which is common with these old bakelite radio cases. The case has no cracks or damage. The knobs, pointer, grills, grill cloths and Zenith Crest are all clean originals. The radio dial numerals are embossed into the front of the case. All the white painted numerals and lettering are crisp, clear and look good. The radio has its original back panel and it too is nice. The radio plays well with the loop antenna within. The FM antenna is designed to use the line cord as the antenna, it too works well and the FM sounds good. Both bands pick up stations up and down the dial. An external FM antenna can be hooked up as well. The tubes are all tested and they are good. The tube lineup is as follows: (2) 12BA6, 12AU6, 6BJ6, 12AT7, 19T8 and 35C5. The original Zenith paper tubular capacitors have been replaced as well as the two electrolytic filter capacitors. Several resistors and a ceramic disc cap were also replaced. The radio sounds good with little if any background hum.The original selenium rectifier has also been replacedwith a 1N4004 diode. The voltage-dropping resistor in series withtheoriginal rectifierwas increased in valuedue to the decreased voltage drop of the new diode. The chassisitself is also very clean. The line cord is the original, it too is in good shape. The AM loop antenna within is also clean and in excellent condition. The factory tag remains attached to the radio bottom. It too is still in good condition. These radios are seldom offered in this nice and well-playing condition. offer on it for your own collection or to add to your Mid Century decor. offer on the nice US Made Radio "as is" due to age. The radio will weigh about 15 pounds well-packed. !! E-Mail any questions and please view my other listings. Thanks for looking.
