A-2 Jacket, Original Wwll A-2 Jacket, Aero Jacket, Vintage Leather Jacket, Sz 42 For Saledue to a non paying er, i am relisting this entirely wearable, outstanding original a-2 jacket. this jacket is an aero leather co. a-2 from the 18775p contract. these were produced in may of 1942. the jacket has stitch holes on the front chest, and back that are barely noticible . by studying the stitch holes, and their placement, it is easy to determine that the jacket was owned by and airman in the 23rd fg, 14th af, in the cbi theater. i had sean collins [a2jacketpatches], the master a-2 patch artist, make a 23rd fg patch of the type and material that would have originally been where the stitch holes are [the patch is remarkable in construction, and fidelity to an original]. i have not had it sewn on to the jacket, but the patch is included in the sale so that if the new owner wishes, he can have it sewn on. the back of the jacket has stitch holes in a pattern that indicates that a blood chit was once sewn on. a custom reproduction can be made by mr collins, if he does not already have one that conforms to the stitch holes. i know that purist a-2 collectors may have a problem with adding repro patches on an original wwll a-2, but then there are those who would prefer to have an original with patches that cover the stitch holes. your call. the russet hides are in robust soft to the touch condition, displaying a beautiful patina, with many years of life left in them. the red russet knits are replacements, done with kints of the proper color and weight. the replacement was done professionally, and the work is flawless. the original talon zipper is in excellent condition, and works smooth as gravy. the liner is faded and has nominal wear. all snaps are present and work properly. the nomenclature has wear, but is readable. the jacket is tagged a size 42, however, please red the measurements before offerding to insure a proper fit. pit o pit: 22 3/4". front length: 22 3/4". sleeves, from the shoulder seam to end of cuff: 24 1/2". back length from the collar seam to bottom of the waistband: 24 3/4". shoulder seam to shoulder seam, at the top back: 18 5/8". in conclusion, you are admiring a perfectly wearable original wwll aero a-2, that needs nothing. i might add, a offer is a commitment to buy. please honor that, as i do.
