Antique 18th C Georgian 22kt Gold Pearl Earrings Poissardes Fishwife French :
fine and very very rare antique French georgian 22kt gold and natural pearl earrings ca 1780 these incredible earrings are called poissardes French for fishwifes , this type of earring was worn between 1790 and 1810 , I believe this pair to be earlier , the earrings are typically in a elongated design , the ear wires had typical s shaped fish hooks style cross over and threaded through the ear back to front , the name of these earrings are derived from the fishwives of paris who were supposedly the first women to wear this kind of earrings , the set is incredible 22kt or higher solid gold and set with 12 natural pearls , the earrings are in great shape for age one earring has tiny split at top and other one needs a bit of repair on bottom wire where it attaches to back of earring but overall in great shape for being over 230 years old , this is the most beautiful and oldest pair of earrings I have ever owned , I believe the set are French , the pair measure a little over 1 1/2 inches in length , and the set weight is .22 oz or 6.9 grams , again the earrings do have very very slight imperfections but I would say great for age , if you have any questions please feel free to ask ,they really are lovely ,hope they go to a good home or collection , items sold as is ,thank you and good luck !!!
